I.Acne Cycle

The first cycle establishes the body as the point of departure for the entire cosmology. Rather than treating acne as an episode of adolescence, Jonetz-Knude uses the marked surface of the skin as the first site upon which inheritance, shame, desire, and identity become visible. Recurring dot formations, bodily fragmentation, and confessional language transform a personal condition into a foundational pictorial grammar. Acne argues that before history, race, religion, or nation can be encountered, they must first be carried by a body.
